Responsibilities

  • Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) regarding all aspects of flight operations of the P-8A Poseidon, actively engaging with aircrew and maintenance personnel.
  • Liaise and coordinate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), Suppliers, RAAF Aircrew, Engineers, and other stakeholders within the P-8A Sustainment Program to enable safe and efficient operations and capability improvement.
  • Contribute to fleet development projects and support implementation of platform configuration changes
  • Provide advice, technical input and approvals in conjunction with other BDA Flight Operations Technical team streams including – Aircraft Performance, Weight and Balance, Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) & Aircrew Publications
  • Co-ordinate and ensure compliance with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) and airworthiness regulations
  • Review of Service Bulletins (SB), Airworthiness Directives (AD), and changes to Minimum Equipment List (MEL)
  • Develop & Review Flight Manual suite updates, implement changes to operational policies and procedures, and review changes in conjunction with RAAF flight training stakeholders
  • Provide flight safety support to the Wing Aviation Safety Officer (ASO), P-8A Poseidon System Safety team (e.g. risk assessments)
  • Provide input and advice in support of maintenance test flight activities
  • Any other responsibilities as directed by the Flight Operations Technical Lead.

Experience/Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • Military Pilot Qualification, with significant operational experience, and/or Civilian Air Transport Pilots Licence Qualification, with significant aviation industry experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with co-workers, maintaining productive working relationships to meet team, business unit and organisational goals
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety procedures
  • Be able to obtain and maintain an NV1 defence security clearance

Desirable Criteria:

  • Substantial experience on B737 or derivative (e.g. P-8A, E-7A, BBJ)
  • Experience in a safety management role
  • Experience working in a contractor environment (directly with customers)
  • Related tertiary qualification or relevant aviation industry experience
  • OT&E competency IAW Defence T&E Competency Framework or equivalentAviation related operational test and evaluation experience
  • Simulator Evaluation Qualification and experience
  • Experience conducting maintenance test flights
