Job overview and responsibilities

  • Read and interpret aircraft inspection & repair documentation
  • Interact with mechanics and engineers
  • Make repairs on aircraft components delivered to your work area
  • Operate all types of welding and associated equipment for fabrication, repair, construction and production, welding, brazing, cutting and other related operations in the shop
  • Apply weld identification
  • Must be able to work and function in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Must be able to maintain expected quality levels

Required:

  • Formal education in a welding educational program
  • Minimum of two years full-time employment experience as a GTAW welder
  • Oxy-acetylene welding, oxy-acetylene brazing, TIG welding of stainless steels
  • TIG welding experience (tungsten inert gas)24 months general welding experience
  • High school diploma

Successful completion of the United certification consisting of 2 parts; a written portion, and a practical portion is also required in order to interview.

Preferred

  • Some experience with TIG welding of aluminum, nickel, and titanium alloys
